Use one bookmark to load different versions of a site
I have several sites that I access on both my iPhone and desktop, so I like to have quick access to them via the Bookmarks Bar. However, these sites have different versions for the desktop, for mobiles, and, in some cases, yet another version for the iPhone. Usually, the full version doesn’t work so well on the iPhone, and the iPhone version is undesirable on the desktop. Instead of creating a plain bookmark, a little Javascript can make a bookmark context-sensitive, and allow you to have one bookmark that opens the right version of a page, depending on which platform you’re browsing from. Droid X Web Browser Comparison (iPh...In this video, we take a look at some of the inbuilt software of the Verizon Motorola Droid X, plus put the device head-to-head with the iPhone 4 and Google Nexus One running on Froyo. To start, the Droid X has some neat applications built in. You can use the 3G mobile hotspot app, but it's going to cost you $20 extra on your bill, plus there is a 2GB data cap. You can expect to get speeds similar to what a MiFi would bring, so about 1.5mbps down, and about 1mbps up. We talk briefly about the DLNA support which allows you to integrated multiple supported devices for multimedia playback. It's still unclear as to whether this standard will be popular, but a lot of new TVs and smartphones are coming with the standard built in. Then we do a web browser comparison against the iPhone 4 and Nexus One with Froyo. The results? The Droid X beat both devices most of the time in terms of page load times, which is great too see, and reflects the overall robust performance of the Droid X. Also, having the larger screen made web browsing more immersive.

Google Chrome for Mac (in beta) doesn’t yet give you a way to mass edit bookmarks in your Other Bookmarks folder. (You can click the yellow star next to a bookmarked page once it’s loaded to edit each bookmark one at a time, but that’s tedious.)
